Do children even need fish oil?

Apparently, some parents may question whether their children really need to take fish oil or omega-3 at all. Do they really not get all the necessary substances from milk, fruit, vegetables and meat or fish?

Since the human body cannot produce omega-3 fatty acids by itself, we have to get them by eating large amounts of omega-3 rich food or by using fish oil in addition.

EPA and DHA are essential fatty acids, the body needs them for normal functioning.

However, since many children do not want to eat fatty fish that contain omega-3, fish oil products are popular for children.

In addition, Baltic Sea fish is contaminated with various environmental toxins and eating it in large quantities is not recommended.

Omega-3 fatty acids have many good qualities, but their effect on lattes is particularly significant. If the mother consumes enough DHA, it contributes to the development of normal brain and vision in the fetus and in the breastfed child, and in the normal development of the child up to 1 year of age.

A 2012 Oxford University study found that daily intake of DHA improved both reading skills and behavior in mainstream primary school students.

"Our results showed that daily omega-3 supplementation improved reading among students with the weakest reading skills (the poorest fifth of students) and allowed these children to catch up with others," said Dr. Alex Richardson, Senior Research Fellow, University of Oxford.
